Policeman's son pleads guilty to drug trafficking

A 31-year-old man, who is said to be the son of a superintendent of police, was sentenced to six months hard labour after he plead guilty to charges of drug trafficking.

The man, of Gauico, Sangre Grande, was held on Tuesday during a police operation by officers of the Eastern Division’s Special Operations Unit, led by Sgt Leon and Cpl Ramnarine.

 He was one of three persons held that night, including one man who was held with five rounds of ammunition, and another who was held on robbery inquiries.

He appeared before a Sangre Grande magistrate on Wednesday where he plead guilty to the charges.

PC Singh, PC Cielto, PC Samuel, and PC Lezama, along with officers of the Sangre Grande CID and the Eastern Division Task Force, were also involved in the exercise.
