Power restored after roof leak at Sando hospital pharmacy

A new leak has been detected at the Pharmacy area of the Oncology Unit at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH).

The South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) in an update on Friday on the progress of repairs at the hospital’s Oncology Unit indicated that a minor leak was detected on Thursday.

As a precautionary measure electrical power in that area was switched off and the roofing contractor called to site. Repairs were conducted later that day.

The SWRHA said all safety protocols were observed and power to the unit was restored by the hospital’s electrical team Friday morning. Regular clinical services began at 10 am.

All patients scheduled for Friday are expected to receive their mixtures and all other patients are able to access full care inclusive of filled prescriptions.

In reaffirming its commitment to quality healthcare for its patients, the SWRHA said repairs were necessary to improve the services offered.

Roof repairs at the Oncology Unit are expected to be completed by December.
