The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) is promising to create over 20,000 scholarships if they are elected to govern Guyana after the March 2 Regional and General Elections.
Speaking at a political rally in Mabaruma, Region One on Monday, PPP/C Presidential candidate Dr Irfaan Ali said the scholarships will be created to ensure young Guyanese can access future opportunities.
“In the next five years, we will deliver 20,000 new scholarships in every community of our country so your sons and daughter can fulfil their dreams to become doctors, lawyers, pilots and teachers,” Ali said.
He stated a PPP/C administration will invest in new facilities to ensure young Guyanese have access to both a primary and secondary education.
Ali also promised that the "One laptop per family programme" will be reintroduced.
