President's office distances itself from the Governor of Culture
Created : 8 November 2019
The Office of the President is distancing itself from an individual calling himself the Governor of Culture.
In a statement, the Office of the President said the individual has represented himself to the National Council of Indian Culture, the Trinidad All Stars Steel Orchestra and The Marionettes Chorale as associated with or representing the Office.
The statement said the individual, who has not been named, has sought free entry to events and/or entry to restricted areas and other accommodations in the name of the President's office.
In one instance, he purported to enter into arrangements and agreements with a third party.
"The Office of the President denies unequivocally any association with the “Governor of Culture” and does not support, endorse or authorise any approach purportedly made on its behalf by this individual," the Office said.
Any other person or organisation to whom this individual has made representation, either as the Governor of Culture or as representing the Office of the President, is asked to contact the Secretary to the President, Cheryl Jackman-Waldron at 225-4687 Ext. 114.
