Prison officer beaten and robbed outside Trincity home

A prison officer robbed and assaulted by gunmen outside of his Trincity home on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old man, who holds the rank of Prison Officer One, was seated in his Hyundai Tucson outside his home around 1 am on Wednesday when a black Nissan X-trail pulled alongside his vehicle.

Before the officer had time to react, three men exited the car, all armed with firearms.

They announced a hold-up and proceeded to beat the officer, forcing him to lie on the ground.

The officer was relieved of his cash and valuables, his prison identification card, a bullet-proof vest, a prisons pocket diary, jewellery, his Samsung S9 cellular phone, and $13,000 in cash.

One of the men then got into the Tucson and drove off while the others escaped in the X-trail.

The prison officer notified the police and officers from the Arouca Police Station responded.

The 32-year-old, LoopTT was told, did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
