Prison officer in court in connection with stolen vehicle

A prison officer has appeared before a Tunapuna Magistrate on charges of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The vehicle, a Kia Sportage, was recovered last Thursday in St Augustine by officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad.

It had been stolen from the Port of Spain on September 12 and a report was made and an investigation launched into the crime.

Police received intelligence which led to the St Augustine area, however, this also led to the arrests of three persons, including a woman and an employee of Kia Motors.

PC Holloway charged the prison officer and his wife, and they both appeared before a Tunapuna Magistrate on Monday.

They were both granted bail at $300,000, each and the matter was adjourned to November 27.

More on this as it becomes available.
