Prison officer held in connection with stolen car
Several persons, including a prison officer, have been detained and are aiding police with inquiries after a stolen vehicle was seized in Couva on Sunday.
The vehicle, LoopTT was told, is a silver Nissan Tiida.
It was seized along Calcutta #3, Mc Bean Village, at about 12.15pm on Sunday.
The vehicle, when examined, had its engine numbers and chassis numbers tampered with.
At the location where the vehicle was found, a woman was questioned, however, she showed the officers proof of purchase which was done in June 2018.
The woman was cautioned and investigators went to the home of the man who sold the car, and at that location, officers were once again provided of proof of purchase – this time from a prison officer who is attached to the MSP in Arouca.
The officers then went to the home of the prison officer, and they detained him and the aforementioned man for questioning.
The vehicle was seized during a police exercise by Snr Sup Daniel, ASP Edwards, Inspector Narace, and Sgt St Clair.
