The Progressive Party has strongly condemned the actions of the individual(s) who vandalised and set ablaze the Ministry of Health building in Port-of-Spain on Saturday morning.

In a statement on Saturday, it said "this cannot and should not be who we are as a people, whereby we take to the destruction of public property as a means of protest in the face of strong philosophical objection to a matter."

Meanwhile, the Progressive Party claimed it has been informed by healthcare professionals, patients and the families of patients that there appears to be a holding back of testing for COVID-19 in some instances and a raising of the bar for persons to "qualify" or "meet the criteria" to be tested at public health institutions.

"There is also a real school of thought that this may be in an attempt to suppress the number of actual cases known and reported to the public, as such information may have an impact on Monday’s election," it added.
