Protests continue at Pioneer Drive, Sea Lots on July 1.

Protests in and around the capital city of Port-of-Spain have continued for the third day.

Protestors were seen marching down Frederick Street in the vicinity of Woodford Square in Port of Spain earlier today, but police dispersed the crowds with tear gas.

Police officers were also recorded in their numbers at Pioneer Drive, Sea Lots earlier on Wednesday where a group of protestors assembled, carrying placards.

On Tuesday, there were fiery protests at several locations including, Beetham Gardens, Morvant, Cocorite and Sea Lots.

Proest action followed an incident in which three men were shot dead by police officers in Morvant on Saturday.

A total of 72 people, including NNV political leader Fuad Abu Bakr, were arrested on Tuesday.

They have not yet been charged.

A pregnant woman, 30-year-old Ornella Greaves, was shot and killed during the protests in Beetham Gardens.

On Monday, residents from Second Caledonia in Morvant engaged in day-long protests in their community over the killings.

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has maintained the protests weren't as a result of anger over police brutality but were funded by criminal elements.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
