PTSC responds to viral video: Bus was stolen by driver
A seemingly disgruntled bus driver with the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) is responsible for the alleged theft of a bus from the PTSC’s Port-of-Spain depot.
A video of a bus being driven out of the compound was shared across social media. The person taking the video is believed to be the one piloting the bus. His face is not seen at any point in the one minute and 28 second long clip.
The man voices several concerns related to security and management at PTSC throughout the video.
Loop News initially contacted Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan regarding the video, but several calls and messages to the Minister’s mobile went unanswered.
The PTSC in a statement in response to the viral video said the matter is now under investigation, but preliminary findings indicate that a PTSC bus driver drove the bus out of the compound, headed west along City Gate, then returned the bus to the compound a few minutes later.
Calling the act “mischievous and malicious”, the PTSC said the driver appeared to be venting about recently implemented changes to the Corporation’s operations aimed at improving the on-time departure of all its early-morning services leaving Port-of-Spain.
The PTSC assured that a full investigation is underway and any gaps identified in its processes will be quickly addressed.
Further, the Corporation said, due to the serious nature of the breach, it is required to report the matter to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service which will conduct its own investigation.
