QRC's Fete Royal celebrating the High 5

It’s been five years since Queen’s Royal College’s Carnival fete was rebranded.

In that time, Fete Royal has quietly established itself as a fete to be reckoned with special features such as The Kings’ Quarters and Queens’ Quarters with pampering zones for the male and female patrons, hairstyling, makeup, and barbering stations, and a brand new “Hookah Bar” experience in 2018.

According to spokesman Yvan Mendoza, the ticket sales are proving the fete’s growing popularity.

“Ticket sales just started to pick up this final week. So far we are over where we are usually. In the first two years it was a little difficult to convince people about the fete but year three and last year we put our stamp on the all-inclusive scene. We are always focused on improving and taking feedback and trying to do better. Our main positioning is giving value for money, everything you could get at an all-inclusive but for less,” he said.

A collaboration between the Queen’s Royal College Old Boys’ Association (OBA), The QRC PTA and the Management Team of the College, Fete Royal event is the biggest fundraiser on the school’s calendar and its proceeds go towards supporting the college’s infrastructural, educational and co-curricular needs.

Mendoza said over the last seven years the fete has contributed over $700,000 to the school.

From the last two fetes, the OBA has been able to contribute to the ongoing restoration of school’s science block. The budget for the restoration is approximately $4,800,000 and the hope is that the profits from this year’s event can make an even bigger impact towards the project’s completion.
