Ramdin leads Red Force for WICB Super50

Denesh Ramdin will skipper defending champions Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Super50 limited over tournament.

The Trinidad and Tobago selectors have also recalled Ravi Rampaul, which is one of seven changes to the squad named for the 2016 tournament.

Darren Bravo not named in the 14-man squad until the outcome of his pending meeting with the WICB.

Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Lendl Simmons and Samuel Badree are unavailable for the tournament.

Trinidad and Tobago beat Barbados by 72 runs in the 2016 final at the Queen’s Park Oval to win their 12th limited over regional title.

Ramdin replaced wicketkeeper Steven Katwaroo midway in the 2016 tournament and returns to the squad along with Rampaul, who last represented Trinidad and Tobago in the 2015 NAGICO Super50 final.

Alexis, who represented the Combined Campuses and Colleges in seven List A matches, is set to play in his Trinidad and Tobago debut.

Barbadian all-rounder Roshon Primus and left-arm orthodox spinner Khary Pierre played first-class for Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in 2016 and are set to make their List A debuts.

Pacer Shannon Gabriel, who last played in a List A match for Trinidad and Tobago in April 2013, returns to the limited-over set-up.

Jamaican Sheldon Cottrell represented his native country in 17 List A matches before being signed by Trinidad and Tobago in 2016.

However, Akeal Hosein, Steven Katwaroo, Yannick Ottley, Uthman Mohammed, Narsingh Deonarine (now with the Windward Islands Hurricanes), Marlon Richards and Philton Williams are the players out of the reckoning in 2017.

The 2017 tournament is set for Barbados and Antigua and the Red Force is in Group A along with Leeward Islands Hurricanes, West Indies Under-19s, Windward Islands Volcanoes and invited team the Kent Spitfires.

Group B includes: Barbados Pride, Guyana Jaguars, CCC Marooners, Jamaica Scorpions, and the ICC Americas.
