RBC credit/debit card error resolved
RBC Royal Bank said that a system error preventing customers from using their credit and debit cards has been resolved.
Reports came in on Monday morning of customers being unable to use their credit and debit cards. At a T&TEC branch in downtown Port of Spain, one customer service representative alerted customers that they would not be able to use their cards, saying that transactions were 'not processing' when swiping.
RBC has since then confirmed that the issue has since been rectified.
"We had a system issue this morning which resulted in a very brief service disruption for some transactions. The issue has since been resolved," said Andrew McGrath, Manager of Media Relations and Corporate Communications at Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto, Canada.
Just last week, some RBC customers reported a system error and were unable to withdraw money from ATM machines.
In a separate incident, four people were charged with fraud after they allegedly manipulated a 'glitch' in the ATM system which allowed them to withdraw money from ATM machines immediately after depositing an empty envelope and misstating the amount being deposited.
