Rehabilitation works continue at the Dwight Yorke Stadium
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs advises the public that rehabilitation works continue at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago, to achieve complete restoration of the facility.
The Urban Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) has been engaged to continue the rehabilitation works and restore the facility. They have assured the Ministry that arrangements are in place to complete Phase III of the project.
Phase III restoration works entails: repair, replacement & servicing of mass lights for the playing field and lighting and repairs to the aircraft lighting warning system; repairs to the existing track – Rugupol Track System; procurement of gym equipment, office furniture and VIP, dressing rooms “Fit-out”; installation of Track and Field equipment with retro-fitted container for storage; procurement and installation of CCTV System; and the supply and installation of modern turnstiles.
UDeCOTT, to date, has completed Phase I and continues work on the PA/IT system, electrical repairs and general repairs to both the covered and uncovered sections of the stadium, to bring Phase II to completion.
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs said it remains committed to ensuring that refurbishment works to the Dwight Yorke Stadium are completed on schedule and the facility is restored to its splendour as the premier sporting facility in Tobago.
The Ministry assures the public that the necessary works are being done promptly, to have the Stadium functional for use by the public and our national athletes.
