Residents stranded as road collapses in Glencoe following heavy rains

Roughly 30 people, including children, are left stranded as a result of a collapsed roadway at La Horquette Valley Road, Glencoe, Diego Martin.

Speaking with Loop TT on condition of anonymity, a resident said that heavy downpours which began around 10 am caused the river to rise. The woman said rainfall only stopped around 2:30 pm. She noted that when the weather conditions normalised, she noticed that piece of the asphalt had washed away.

The woman said she would attempt to contact the Diego Martin Regional Corporation (DMRC) to have the road repaired. Until then, families can’t drive in or out. What they can do is walk.

Loop TT made several calls to DMRC Chairman Susan Hong, however, all calls went directly to voicemail.
