Retired nurse found dead

An autopsy has been ordered to determine what caused the death of 71-year-old Hermina Doughty.

Doughty, from Trincity, was found dead just before 3 pm on Saturday.

Her body had been stuffed in a barrel and thrown off a cliff along St Michael’s Road, Tacarigua.

Police said from initial examinations, it appeared as though she had been stabbed.

However, an autopsy was ordered to confirm this.

Doughty was last seen leaving her Trincity home last Saturday.

When she failed to attend church on Sunday, relatives became concerned and notified police.

On Friday, a man was held driving Doughty’s car.

He has been aiding with inquiries since.

Police were able to find Doughty’s body from information received from the suspect.
