Road fatalities cross 70

The road fatality toll has been pushed to 71 with the death of a 36-year-old woman on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Kizzy Bango, of D’Abadie.

She was killed in an accident along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, near Claxton Bay, around 9.30 pm. According to police, Bango was in a black Nissan Xtrail SUV when her vehicle was struck by another car which was driving behind her.

This caused the SUV to cross the median, and flip, landing on its hood.

The police and emergency health services were notified and Bango was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital.

Unfortunately, she succumbed to injuries sustained while receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the woman who was killed while walking along the main road in Cocorite on Saturday has been identified as 30-year-old Desiree Lovelace, from Petit Valley.

Lovelace was killed while walking along the roadway, around 2.30 pm that day, near the walkover to Powder Magazine, Phase 2, Cocorite.

She was struck by a car.

A post mortem was expected to be performed on Monday at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
