Road fatality count jumps to five as 16-year old dies

A 16-year-old girl was the fifth road fatality for 2020. 

The deceased has been identified as Reshma Rambarran, of Jaipaul Road, Ste Madeleine. She was a Fifth Form pupil of ASJA Girls College, Barrackpore. 

She died on Friday morning having sustained head injuries in the same motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of Prakash Roopnarine on Thursday afternoon. 

She had suffered severe head injuries in that accident. 

Rambarran was pronounced dead at 1.50am. 

According to police reports, Roopnarine was driving his vehicle, a black Nissan sedan at about 3.45pm, when his car hit a truck. 

Roopnarine, police said, died at the scene, while Rambarran was rushed for medical treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital.
