Robbery suspects held with loaded firearm

Three men are currently in police custody after they were held with a loaded firearm in Sangre Grande.

The suspects, aged 29, 29 and 25, are from Diego Martin.

According to police reports, officers of the Northern Division Special Investigations Unit, under the supervision of Snr Sup Michael Daniel and Inspector Robert Joseph, were conducting inquiries into a recent spate of armed robberies in the district.

The officers received information around 1 pm on Monday which led the unit to Sangre Grande where they had cause to intercept a silver Nissan Note with the three occupants.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and the officers allegedly found and seized a loaded revolver.

As a result the three suspects were all arrested.

They are expected to be placed on identification parades sometime on Tuesday.
