A Russian-made assault rifle was found in Laventille Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, officers of the Inter Agency Task Force were conducting routine patrols in the Laventille community, when around 4.30 am, they received key intelligence which led them to a bushy area off Straker Village, Picton Road, Laventille.
When the area was searched, the officers found and seized a Russian made SKS 7.62mm assault rifle.
At the time of the discovery, no citizens were within sufficient proximity and as a result, no arrests were made.
However, the weapon is expected to be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it can be linked to previous reports of criminal actiivties in the area.
