San Fernando man chopped during robbery

A 59-year-old man was chopped during a robbery in Ste Madeleine Sunday night.

The victim, of Hermitage Road, San Fernando, is said to be in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital, having sustained injuries to his right forearm and leg during the incident.

Thankfully the injuries are not said to be life threatening.

According to police reports, the 59-year-old was driving his car along the M1 Ring Road, when around 7 pm Sunday, an object struck the front windscreen of his Nissan AD Wagon.

The 59-year-old man pulled over to inspect the damage, and it was here that he was ambushed by two men.

The men, police were told, emerged from some tall bushes near the roadway.

They attacked the victim and robbed him of his cash and valuables.

The assailants then fled the scene.

The 59-year-old was able to notify the police and went for medical treatment.
