San Fernando man killed in boating accident
A boating accident is being investigated by Western Division Police after it claimed the life of a 42-year-old man.
The deceased has been identified as Nicholas Kowlessar from St James Street, San Fernando.
According to police reports, around 4.30 pm on Sunday, Kowlessar was part of a group of persons who went “Down D Islands”.
While attempting to dock the pirogue they were in at Chacachacare Island, Kowlessar jumped into the waters with a length of rope to secure the vessel to a nearby tree.
Unfortunately, he was pulled under the pirogue, and seriously injured when he came in contact with the vessel’s two propellers.
He was rushed immediately to Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, and from there rushed to the St James District Hospital.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
