San Fernando man's car destroyed in arson attack
Police are investigating a report of arson in San Fernando in which someone burnt down a car belonging to a 61-year-old man.
According to police reports, at about 3.20 am on Wednesday, the victim was at his home along Rushworth Street, on San Fernando, when he was awoken by a loud noise.
Upon checking, he saw his blue Nissan Tiida hatchback engulfed in flames.
The fire services and police service, led by FSO Hanniff responded and they were able to contain the blaze.
A team of officers, including Cpl Burke and PC Charles, reviewed CCTV footage which was obtained on the compound, and a man was seen entering the premises.
The man was dressed in a hoodie, and a mask covering his face.
He entered the compound by climbing a wall to the victim’s home.
He then smashed the front left window with a stone, and the poured a liquid substance into the car, and set it ablaze before making good his escape.
The vehicle, valued at $55,000, was completely destroyed.
