San Juan man held with gun, weed

A police exercise over the weekend led to the arrest of one man and the seizure of a pistol and a quantity of marijuana by officers of the San Juan CID.

The officers also seized a quantity of ammunition during the exercise, which was spearheaded by Insp (Ag), Simeon James, supervised by Sgt. (Ag.), Wayne Davidson, and conducted between 4 pm and 7 pm, last Friday.

According to reports, the officers were on mobile patrol along the Eastern Main Road, San Juan, when they had cause to stop a silver Nissan Wingroad motor vehicle, being driven by a 32-year-old San Juan man.

The officers searched the vehicle and found a Kel Tec pistol along with a magazine, with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition and 50 plastic packets containing 72 grammes of marijuana.

The suspect was arrested in connection with the finds.
