San Juan man shot and killed by police
Police are continuing their investigations into the death of 40-year-old Ricky George.
George was killed during a confrontation with police on Sunday afternoon along Sawmill Avenue, Mt Hope.
According to police reports, at about 3.30 pm on Sunday, officers made their way to the address above with the intention of executing a search warrant for arms and ammunition.
However, it was said that as they approached the house, the officers alleged that they saw George with a firearm in his hands.
They called on the 40-year-old to surrender however, he allegedly opted to raise the weapon and point it at the lawmen.
The officers, fearful for their lives, shot at George with their licensed firearms.
George was hit several times and rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Complex in Mount Hope.
However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A loaded 9mm pistol was allegedly seized at the scene.
Police investigating San Juan drive-by shooting
In a separate incident, North Eastern Division police are investigating a report of a drive-by shooting in San Juan on Monday night.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to police reports a group of persons were liming along Sunshine Avenue, San Juan, at about 9:00 pm on Monday when a vehicle pulled up alongside them.
Several loud explosions were heard, and the vehicle was then seen speeding away.
When the dust settled, no one in the group reported any injuries.
Persons who spoke to police said it was a “miracle” that no one was injured.
Police are currently searching for the assailants.
