Sanitary worker flees robber, gets lost in forest
A man who fled into a forested area in St Joseph to escape a gunman was reportedly lost for about two hours.
According to police reports, the victim was part of a group of three men who were emptying a waste disposal bin along the Maracas Royal Road, when around 3.00 am, they were approached by a gunman.
The man announced a hold up, and attempted to rob the trio.
Fearful for their lives, two of the men ran into the nearby forested areas in an attempt to flee the scene.
The gunman left with valuables from the victims and fled the scene.
After spending some time calling out to his friends, the man who remained behind made his way to the St Joseph Police Station where he made a report.
While there, the second man eventually walked into the station as well.
A team of officers, led by PC Persad and PC Martin, made their way to the location and conducted a search for the third man.
Eventually, they were able to find the victim some two hours after.
Statements were taken from all three men and inquiries are ongoing.
