‘Satan’ sentenced to four years for robbery

A 29-year-old man who has over a dozen previous convictions for robberies and narcotics possession, was sentenced to four years hard labour after he allegedly robbed someone with a broken glass bottle.

Nathan “Satan” Nanan from Princes Town appeared before Rio Claro Magistrate Rae Roopchan.

The court heard that at about 4.30pm on Saturday, the victim was seated in a taxi which was proceeding along Buen Intento Road, Princes Town, when the vehicle came to a stop in the vicinity of the Princes Town market.

While the car was at a stand-still, the victim was attacked by a man who was armed with a broken stag bottle.

The man ordered the victim out the car and relieved him of $100 and then fled the scene.

The victim notified the police and a team of officers from the Princes Town CID responded.

Nanan was arrested, and positively identified by the victim.

He was brought to court, where he plead guilty to the offence of robbery with aggravation and sentenced.
