Created : 2 October 2017
Andrew Ramroop, a master tailor on London's famed Savile Row, is pleased with Government's announcement of a tailoring certification programme in the budget presentation.
When contacted, Ramroop, owner of the Maurice Sedwell and founder of the Savile Row Academy, said he was pleased with the announcement.
"They have accepted my proposal and have identified the location for me to track my ARTS program. ARTS is an acronym for Andrew Ramroop Tailoring Skills," he said.
Ramroop, who was born and grew up in Trinidad, said the plan will start on March 5.
He said he will in T&T on November 3 and hopes to be interviewing prospective students.
"MIC will deliver the numeracy and life skills elements and I will teach the intricate skills of a master tailor. My plan as you know is to help develop, motivate and inspire people like myself," he said.
In November, Ramroop will host FAME, an event focused on creating export opportunities for those in our creative community.
