Scotia to close Scarborough branch, assures no job losses
Effective June 30, 2020, Scotiabank will close its Scarborough branch.
However, the bank has assured that there will be no job losses as the operations of the Scarborough branch will be consolidated into its Gulf City, Lowlands branch.
The bank said the decision followed an assessment of its two Tobago branches after damage to its Scarborough location by flooding caused by Tropical Storm Karen in September 2019.
Customers will not be affected, as all accounts will be transferred to Lowlands. Customers will be contacted with details on their accounts.
To further accommodate the transition and expanded operations, the Lowlands Branch will be upgraded to manage the increase in customers. Lowlands will also be equipped with next generation ATMs that allow for 24/7 banking.
Scotiabank also intends to expand its ATM footprint throughout the island, over time.
The bank has also assured that employees will not be affected by the closure.
All employees will be reassigned to other positions within the business including at Lowlands.
“You will continue to see familiar faces throughout our operations,” customers were assured.
Scotiabank has also assured an open door policy during the period of transition to address any questions or concerns customers may have.
Customers are encouraged to drop in at the Scarborough branch to chat with an advisor for useful tips on accounts and the transition and stay tuned to www.tt.scotiabank.com for updates.
