Scotiabank helps seniors bank online with new info hub

Scotiabank has launched a new information hub for seniors to help them navigate the digital banking landscape with confidence.

The launch of the new resource is part of the bank’s observances for Senior’s month (July).

The “Bank with Confidence” tool helps guide customers through all of the possibilities that digital banking has to offer, especially given the challenges presented by COVID-19.   

The resource is available at tt.scotiabank.com/seniors.

Stephen Bagnarol - Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago explained the idea behind the launch of the new resource.

He said: “Seniors make up a large portion of our customer base. Their health and safety at this time are a major focus for us as there is no vaccine for the virus.”

“They are the most vulnerable in our communities and we’re committed to developing initiatives to help them get their banking done remotely, reducing touch points so they can stay home and stay safe.”

The bank said senior clients have already embraced the new tool.

A 72-year-old Scotiabank customer from Chaguanas is quoted as saying: “I’ve always had a good OnLine experience with Scotia.  I am not the most tech-savvy, but I love Scotia OnLine banking.” 

The customer continued: “I’m able to see all of my account activity, I can download my account statements and check my bill payment history quickly to make sure I haven't forgotten to pay something that month. I didn’t think it would be so easy and I’m so happy I decided to give it a try.”

A 69-year-old Scotiabank customer from Port of Spain also reported a positive experience with Scotia’s online banking services.

“I find using the new Scotia Caribbean App so stress-free, I am a senior and don't have too much experience with technology but using the app is so easy. I have been doing all of our banking online for the last two or more years.”

Bank with Confidence is intended to help seniors feel more comfortable banking at home.

The digital hub includes OnLine Banking tips, step by step guides, information on understanding the safety and security of OnLine Banking and more.

Scotiabank’s digital support team is available via email CustomerCareTT@scotiabank.com to help seniors and all customers learn about online banking and the ease and convenience it adds to their lives. 

Digital options are available for everyday banking needs, such as accessing account statements (e-statements), checking account balances and account history, transferring money between accounts, sending money to other local banks and paying bills using Scotia OnLine Banking or the Scotia Caribbean Mobile App.

Customers are assured of enhanced security with the Scotia Caribbean App - including support for fingerprint and face recognition sign in (depending on your device and OS).

Signing in to Scotia OnLine is also safer and more secure as a verification code is sent to the client’s valid email address, each time they sign in.
