As floodwaters continue to rise in parts of South Trinidad making roads impassable, a number of businesses have been forced to remain closed.

Scotiabank has advised that the Penal branch of the bank will be closed until further notice.

In a statement, Scotiabank explained that employees are currently unable to access the location due to flooding in the area.

As such, the bank is requesting that customers visit the Siparia branch, or conduct their transactions via Scotia Online, Scotia Mobile or call 62-SCOTIA for assistance.

Republic Bank in Penal has also been forced to temporarily close its doors.

In a notice posted to its website, the bank confirmed that the branch remained closed this morning.

The bank closed early on Wednesday as flooding affected the arrival of a number of employees.

Republic Bank said it will update the public on any further developments throughout the course of the day.

Customers are encouraged to use the bank’s other services: Republic Mobile App, Republic Online banking and any Blue Machine.
