Search for retired school teacher ends in tragedy

The search for a retired school teacher, who had been reported missing last week by his family ended in tragedy, as the body of the 78-year-old man was discovered on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Jamaludeen Wajadali of Arena Road, Freeport.

An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of death.

However, foul play is not suspected from initial observations.

Wajadali’s body was found at about 2.15 a.m. in a bushy area a short distance away from his home. He was last seen on Tuesday morning at his family’s home.

He taught for 35 years at the Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive and was the vice principal of the school before he retired.

More on this as it becomes available.
