Search on for suspects after Curepe robbery

St Joseph police are searching for two men who robbed a 20-year-old man in Curepe on Saturday night.

The victim, police said, was robbed of his cellular phone and a quantity of cash.

The incident happened around 11.30 pm along Riverside Road, Curepe.

The victim told police he was walking along the roadway when he was confronted by two men.

One man was armed with a piece of iron, while the other gestured as though he had a firearm.

The assailants threatened the 20-year-old and relieved him of his valuables, which police were told included a variety of currencies including small amounts of US, Russian, and Venezuelan currencies.

They were all being kept in the victim’s book bag which also contained his work clothes.

The assailants then made good their escape by fleeing into a silver Nissan Tiida which was parked nearby.

The police were notified and CCTV footage from cameras in the area is in the process of being reviewed with the aim of identifying the suspects.
