Security guard held with unlicensed firearm

A 28-year-old security guard was arrested by police after being found in possession of a firearm on Tuesday.

The security guard was held during a roadblock in Maloney after officers searched his Nissan Almera. They found a Sig Sauer pistol along with 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

When questioned, he told police he was a security guard and was licensed to carry the weapon. However, he claimed he lost his Firearm User Employee Certificate (FUEC) earlier this year.

The suspect was immediately arrested and is being kept at the Maloney Police Station.

He is aiding police with inquiries.
