A 41-year-old security officer is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today on allegations of negligence after misplacing her licensed firearm.
The officer, who is from Belmont, was charged under Section 28(1)(a) of the Firearms Act this weekend.
She was placed on station bail after being charged, and the matter is expected to be heard before the Port of Spain 4B Court.
The woman reportedly lost her weapon some time on Friday night.
She realised the weapon was missing at 6am on Saturday, when her shift was completed.
The woman retraced her steps, but she was unsuccessful in discovering the weapon – said to be a licensed Glock pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.
Investigations were launched by Woodbrook police.
A second man was questioned, who worked with the officer, however, he has not been charged.
