Security guards robbed by bandits in Freeport

Freeport police are investigating a report of a robbery in which two security officers were robbed by six armed men.

The incident took place at a popular food distributor company along Fireburn Road, Freeport, on Monday.

PC Gaskin has been appointed to investigate the matter.

The two security guards, aged 37 and 30, told police there were on the compound when they were accosted by six men in dark clothing.

One of the men was armed with a firearm.

They announced a hold-up, and then proceeded to bound and beat the two officers about their bodies.

They then forced their way into the building and removed a large quantity of cash from the registers in the building.

The suspects then escaped in an awaiting vehicle.

The officers were able to untie themselves, following which they made a report to the police.

More on this as it becomes available.
