Security officer, 34, arrested for possession of illegal firearm

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and two firearms along with quantities of ammunition seized during exercises officers of the Northern Division on Saturday.

Based on information received, officers proceeded to the compound of a security firm in Arouca, where they arrested a security officer, who was found to be in illegal possession of a black Luger pistol, fitted with a magazine containing two rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Officers then went to a cleared out area in the Lopinot district, where they found a black plastic bag containing a silver pistol and smaller bags containing a total of 37 rounds of 9mm ammunition under a bamboo stool. No one was arrested in connection with the incident.
