Senior prisons officer appointed to investigate prison break
A senior prison officer has been appointed to produce a full report on last week’s prison escape which saw eight men flee the walls of the Golden Grove Prison.
The officer was appointed by Prisons Commissioner Gerald Wilson and is expected to deliver a full report detailing the escape and culpability as well as recommendations on how to prevent any such incidents from repeating.
It is expected that this report should be completed within 30 days.
Wilson is already in possession of a preliminary report which details initial information on how the men escaped.
Prisoners Olatunji Denbow and Michael Findley, along with Stefon Austin, Joshua Janet, Brent Johnson, Mikhale Mohammed, Kerry Valentino and Atiba Sealy, all escaped from the Remand Yard Prison in Arouca last Wednesday morning.
Denbow and Findley are still at large.
The other six men were held in Las Lomas between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, during joint operations led by officers of the Northern Division and Central Division, led by ACP McDonald Jacob, ASP Richard Smith, and Sgt Figaro.
