Police have held seven people who they suspect have connections with organised crime units in the Enterprise, Chaguanas area.
In a statement, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service said the seven men were arrested for possession of marijuana by officers of the Central Division Special Crime Unit, during an anti-crime exercise on Wednesday.
Police said a revolver and a quantity of ammunition were also seized during the exercise, which took place between 8:00 am Monday and 8:00 pm on Tuesday and included officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, the Regiment Intelligence Unit and the Canine Unit.
Officers first went to Chris Terrace West, Bhagaloo Street, Enterprise, where they arrested three persons: a 28-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman, and a 69-year-old woman, all of Bhagaloo Street, Enterprise, for possession of one kilogramme of marijuana.
The officers then went to Floral Terrace, Dass Trace, Enterprise, where they arrested four people; a 29-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman, a 44-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, all of Dass Trace, Enterprise, for possession of 287 grammes of high-grade marijuana.
A Smith and Wesson revolver, along with five rounds of .38mm ammunition and 97 grammes of high grade marijuana, were also discovered at Chin Chin Road, Cunupia. No arrests were made in connection with the finds.
The marijuana seized during the exercise has an estimated street value of $75,000.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt Kenny Mc Intyre and coordinated by ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith.
