'Shoes' critical, police investigate second reprisal shooting

A Laventille man is warded in a critical condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital following a shooting incident at Upper Trou Macaque, Laventille on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Okeera “Shoes” London.

According to reports, residents heard several explosions around 6 pm and on investigating, observed a man lying face down in a grassy area.

The victim appeared to have been shot multiple times.

The police and emergency health services were notified and a team of officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force, the Besson Street Police Station and with support from officers of the TT Regiment, responded.

They rushed London to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Crime scene investigators visited the scene and at least ten spent shells were reportedly recovered from the area.

Police believe this incident may be linked to the death of Darren “Cowman” King who was shot dead on Monday afternoon.

Since King was killed, 18-year-old Kevon Depeiza of Apartment Building One, Trou Macaque, was gunned down, while residents have made reports of hearing "loud explosions" on both Monday and Tuesday night.

More on this as it becomes available.
