Shop owner gunned down in Wallerfield

A shop owner was shot and killed in Wallerfield on Monday night.

He has been identified as 33-year-old Roodell Flaunders, also known as Junior, of Red Granite Street, Jacob Hill, Wallerfield.

According to reports, around 11.30 pm officers responded to a report of a shooting at Mulberry Drive, Jacob Hill, Wallerfield.

On arrival, they were met by residents who directed them to Red Granite Road, Jacob Hill, where they observed the body of a man being carried by neighbours.

The man appeared to suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The body was placed in the police vehicle and taken to hospital.

Flaunders succumbed to his injuries at the Arima Health Facility.

The victim was shot in the chest and upper back.

Further enquiries revealed that around 11.15 pm, Flaunders was sitting at his shop when he was approached by a man.

Several explosions were heard, and the man was them seen running away.

Investigations are ongoing.
