Showers, thundershower activity affecting southern areas of Trinidad

Showers and thundershower activity are ongoing over southern areas of Trinidad.

In Meteorological Service, in a weather update at 11:38 am on Friday, said these activities have increased in intensity and frequency over the past hour.

The Met Office also added that significant lightning activity has also been observed near and over the south-west peninsula of Trinidad.

However, it added that this activity is expected to settle during the afternoon.

“Some areas are experiencing showers and thunderstorm activity but this should settle during this afternoon and Independence day celebrations should be unaffected late this evening.”

The Met Office said generally sunny conditions will prevail despite the 20 percent (low) chance of showery interruptions. It said tonight would be mostly clear regardless of the odd shower.
