Six to appear in court for gun and ammo possession
A family of four is among a group of six people expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate on Friday, charged with two counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Michelle Campo, 46; Kendell Campo, 22; Nakilia Campo, 18; Aisha Phill, 20; Jason Richards, 30; along with a 17-year-old minor, all of Valencia, were arrested after officers of the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) executed a search warrant at their home around 2 am.
During the exercise, officers discovered one Smith and Wesson revolver and six rounds of .38mm Special ammunition, a Browning pistol along with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Additionally, a quantity of cash was seized along with 25.8 grammes of marijuana which was found hidden in plastic packets inside a can of Monster energy drink.
Kendell Campo is also charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The exercise, supervised by Sgt Chris Edwards and Cpl Denton Cortez included officers of the Eastern Division Task Force and Canine Unit.
PC Johnny Lee Travajo of the Valencia CID laid the charges.
