Soldier in court for KFC robberies
A private in the Defence Force was among four persons who appeared before the courts on charges of possession of firearm, ammunition, and robbery.
Casey Edwards, 29, appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate.
He appeared alongside 23-year-old Akim James of Maloney.
Two minors, aged 16 from Petit Bourg, and 17 from Maloney Gardens, also appeared before the courts.
After the charges were read – which included allegations of robbery, and possession of a firearm along with six rounds of ammunition – the matter was adjourned.
Bail was set at $350,000, to be approved by a clerk of the peace.
Only the 17-year-old boy from Maloney was not granted bail, as he had a prior matter before the courts relating to firearm possession.
PC Ellies from the St Clair Police Station was the complainant (charging officer) in the matter.
After further submissions, the case was adjourned.
The four were held after two KFC Branches in Port of Spain and Maraval were robbed within a 30-minute period on Friday night.
