South Oropouche man, 60, arrested after shooting neighbour

A 60-year-old man is in custody after he reportedly shot his neighbour.

The victim, 29-year-old Andrew James is said to still be warded in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.

According to police reports, the incident took place around 3:40 am on Saturday along Silverstream Raod, Aripero.

James was said to be walking along the roadway, hen his neighbour ran out to the roadway and shot him in the abdomen.

The assailant then fled the scene.

Residents of the area, who heard the shot, notified the police and emergency health services and James was rushed for medical treatment.

The 60-year-old was arrested a short while later.

A search was conducted of the suspect’s house, but no firearm was found.
