St Ann’s patient suspected of burning down home

Police suspect that a 48-year-old man, who is an out-patient of St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital, set a Princes Town home on fire over the weekend.

Officers said around 8pm on Saturday night, they received a report of a home on fire along Lothians Road, Princes Town. Police officers, as well as fire officials responded.

When they arrived, fire officers worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.

Police reported that there were no injuries.

Upon being interviewed, relatives told police that they believe the fire was set by a 48-year-old man who lives in the area.

The suspect was eventually detained and taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for an evaluation. Depending on the results, he will be questioned and charged.
