St Joseph bar owner robbed at gunpoint

A 33-year-old businessman was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning in St Joseph.

The incident reportedly took place at a bar along La Sieva Road, Maracas St Joseph.

The victim was closing his bar around 12.30 am on Friday when a white Nissan AD wagon with two occupants pulled up alongside the establishment.

The men exited the vehicle and announced a hold up.

They pointed the firearm in the face of the bar owner, and ordered him to open back up the bar.

They then proceeded to steal 15 bottles of alcohol, including Johnny Walker, Absolute Vodka, and Hennessy.

The assailants also relieved the businessman of 12 half packs of cigarettes as well as the bar owner’s cellular phone, his vehicle, and $13,000 cash – which represented the day’s sales.

The assailants then escaped by proceeding north along the Maracas St Joseph Road.

WPC Collins is continuing inquiries.
