St. Mary's College invites young alums to Cruise w. the Saints
The inaugural cooler cruise which will be held on Friday, February 15, is the brainchild of the St. Mary's College Past Students' Union who wanted to find a way to ensure that all of its alumni--no matter their budget--can be a part of the CIC Carnival vibe.
Brevard Nelson, President of the St. Mary's College Past Students' Union and Roberto Ramirez, past president and chairman of the vice committee shared with Loop that many of the more recent alums have admitted that they want to come out and support the school by attending the all-inclusive but its price point was too high.
"We decided to throw a fete that's more affordable, and something for the younger alums to enjoy that's still affordable at this early point of their careers. For all of our events, we always try to do something that's a little different; we try to add our spin, our flavour to these activities.
"This year marks 17 years [of CIC All Inclusive] and we've spent a lot of time perfecting on the model, so people know that once our name is on an event, they know it's going to be a quality experience."
Nelson and Ramirez said that patrons will get the similar kind of premium experience that CIC is known for that will have patrons talking about it long after it's over.
"We wanted to throw a cruise that would be more than the everyday cruise. The same way how you'd leave a fete and say wow, I got $2,000 worth of food, drinks and entertainment...this cruise will be no different."
While details are still being ironed out, Loop understands that Nuphoric is confirmed to appear.
As is the case with their all-inclusive, proceeds from the cruise will be re-invested in the school, including the refurbishment of the chemistry, biology and physics labs.
Tickets, which are priced at $250, are available from the CIC Past Students’ office (624-8468) and the members of the Management Committee.
