Ste Madeleine man held with exotic animals

A 22-year-old Ste. Madeleine man has been arrested in connection with possession of protected animals and clipping the wings of protected animals.

Officers of the Moruga Police Station and South Game Wardens made the arrest during an anti-crime exercise on between 8am and 12 noon Saturday.

The lawmen executed a search warrant at a house located at L’Anse Mitan Road, where they found and seized 30 white eyed parakeets, 12 blue and gold macaws, 8 black headed parrots, a macaw, a capybara and two red-footed tortoises.

The man, who was in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the finds.
