Stolen Benz, Rav 4 recovered

Police have recovered two stolen vehicles in separate incidents.

In the first incident, a 20-year-old Barataria man was held during a police exercise in Woodbrook driving a stolen white Mercedes Benz hatchback.

Officers of the Woodbrook Police Station were on Belle Smythe Street, Woodbrook, when they had cause to stop the vehicle.

The driver was questioned, and he was unable to provide officers with proof of ownership.

The vehicle was then traced and officers learned that the car was stolen at gunpoint in Chaguanas on December 6.

The 20-year-old from Sixth Avenue, Barataria was arrested as a result and is aiding with inquiries on how he came into possession of the vehicle.

In the second incident, a Toyota Rav4, which was stolen at gunpoint in St Augustine on Saturday, was recovered.

The black SUV was recovered yesterday morning by officers of the Northern Division Special Investigations at Quarry Road in Laventille.

The vehicle, LoopTT was told, was stolen during an armed robbery at St John's Road, St Augustine.

The victim was beaten during the robbery by the two armed men.

The vehicle has since been examined by crime scene investigators and workable fingerprints have been seized.

Police said that arrests are imminent.
